Open Question: Mid life crisis? How do you learn to listen to your true inner self?
I'm 38. My kids are 18 -just graduated- and 21 - new daddy (i'm a grandma!!)Obviously I had them young. The "granma"title still startles me a bit but I adore every minute of it. This year has been so difficult - serious family struggles, health concerns, unbearable work conditions to the point that I quit my job of 11 years. Now with so much time on my hands from being unemployed I find myself looking around and thinking"now what?" I need to find a job but don't know what I want to do as I change my mind daily. So many things arrive into play - the things I want to do versus the things I should do. Since I missed out on so much when I was young to lift my babies I always looked forward to this time in my life- now it's here and I feel paralyzed. One day I want to sell my home and relocate the next I want to build a firepit and garden pond in my backyard. I think about applying for full time factory work for the $$ and then change to p/t at something I like. How do I work this out? How do I separate my true desires/needs from fluctuating moods and outside pressures?

Resolved Question: 20 weeks pregnant and I think my unborn baby and partner are better off without me.?
The more pregnant I receive the more I want to not be pregnant, im not excited, i just want to run away. My partner and i argue constantly because he says i never wanted this baby, i did at the time but things have changed, neither of us work now and he just seems to be so baby orientated every the time i can't breath. I receive mad when ever anyone asks anything about my pregnancy progress and i can't even feel slightly excited about the baby, cant even contemplate buying anything. I feel awful about this as its not the babys fault and there are so many couples and single women who would adore to be in my position right now. I feel a complete fake. I feel that it would be better to hand over the baby at birth to my partner and leave them to it. I don't even know if i adore my partner anymore and the stress of every this is damging the relationship and my health.

Open Question: What do you guys think?
I reflect on some of the conversations that some guys have had in the past about women taking jobs that are traditionally male. And I can recall a lady that I knew as child who would fall in the category of women who’re trying to perform the duties reserved for a man. She was a single mom of three kids that was once married to a guy who knew members in my family. One day he decided that he no longer wanted to be a dad/husband, and left her and his kids for a lady he’d met while visiting the local clubs, and moved back to his home state. Leaving her and the three kids behind. She was a mess, bills where due, she was a stay at home mom with no job training, and no work experience. So it was difficult for her to receive a job working as an administrative assistant t or secretary. Instead of drawing government assistance she received work at the local dinner where my grandmother was a cook. She earned at that time about $7.50 plus tips as a waitress working double shifts, after taxes and social security was taken out of her check she wasn’t bring enough money home to pay for rent, utilities and child care, so her kids would stay with us from time to time where I would baby sit. She ended up getting sick, and lost her job, where the kids moved in with us until she could receive back on her feet. One day while standing in the unemployment line, she saw an advertisement for the construction company that my dad worked for an open position that paid about $18.00 an hour plus health/medical/dental benefits for the workers and dependents. every she would have to do is attend company training for four weeks (paid) in order to receive qualification for the job (based on company standards). She, and a few other single females (some with kids, some not) signed up for the openings and was hired soon after. She told me that the discrimination she and the other females suffered on the job was horrendous; I’m talking men exposing themselves while making lude comments about sexual orientation, sexist jokes, discrimination, it was horrible. But she said she never complained because she was making more on that job then what she was as a waitress plus benefits. I asked her why she decided to stay in such a work environment if the scrutiny she and many other females were faced with was so horrible? She told me “I’ll do what I have to do to make a living for my kids, since my former husband won’t. I would rather them spit on me, and call me out my name than my kids spend another night icy and hungry”. What do you guys think? Should she have begged for her job back at the dinner making about $2.00 over minimum wage at that time, pulling double shifts with no time for her kids, bring home a tiny pay check to support her family (because it’s traditionally female employment)? Or should she have stayed on the job that paid well (plus benefits) working less hours with training and room for advancement in order take care of her kids, but face ridicule because it was traditionally male employment? Or should she have just given up and drawn government assistance (like she started too) and sat at home, with no job, no training and let the tax payers take care of her kids and herself? Which in your opinion is the better choice? Edit: Elvis: let me go into a little detailed history about this lady and her ex-husband. The man she married was someone she’d known for a long time. The two of them grew up together in a tiny town outside of New Orleans, LA. They moved to Texas (my home state) around the same time my dad and mom moved in search of employment when they had their first child. Thing was a little rocky after the second child, but he really changed after the third (the one he didn’t want.) this is when things started to really receive crazy and he decided to leave. He felt like he “was trapped” and needed his space. They where together for almost 10- 12 years prior to separation. I seriously doubted she could foresee this happening between the two of them. It wasn't until after the 3rd child that he "met the lady of his dreams" and chose to follow his destiny. I'm not saying every men do this, but it does happen. And a lot more often then most will like to admit. Ken: I think you’ve missed the issues within the story that untangled the situation. There will always be two-faced, gossiping and back stabbing people in the work forces. That happens no matter where you work. The question I was posing to the many readers here was in regards to the complaint that many men have of a lady employed in a traditionally male work environment, and being ridiculed for it. To the point of being verbally, physically, sexually harassed, and discriminated against. I wanted to know if YOU (and most of your fellow men feel she did the right thing by sticking with the job to provide for her kids as a single mom? Or should she file the paper work needed to draw government assistance, or go back to the waitress job making little or no money spending less time with her kids? Its no longer about people talking behind your back and who doesn’t like you when the bills are due, your kids are hungry and need shoes.

Resolved Question: She might be pregnant?
Hi everyone - can you give me some advice? My girlfriend of over 2 years thinks she might be pregnant. The last time we had s.intercourse (which is only once per month) we didn't use any protection (condom or contraceptive pill) she had been using pills before and we decided it's best she doesn't use them any more as they seemed to be bad for her health...we said ok we'd just be careful. She's missed her period and is about 1 week tardy. Obviously we are not ready to have a baby. What would happen if when she took the pregnancy test - it turned out she was pregnant...even a very new pregnancy...would she still have to receive an abortion...or would there still be time to take a contraceptive pill of some sort? (Sorry to sound so relaxed about the abortion issue - i know it's a sensitive subject but we were as careful as we possibly could be and we can't possibly have a baby now. Please just real inteligent answers...thanks

Open Question: What should I do? My father's child is denying our baby.?
I have known my baby's dad for 5 years now and we started dating about 2 months ago. Well, I quit taking my birth control because I lost my health insurance and couldn't afford it. I told my baby's dad that I wasn't taking it but he still wouldn't wear a condom. I didnt have a problem with that cause I am ready to have kids anyways so about 2 weeks ago I find out that I am 5 weeks pregnant and I call and tell him and he totally denies that baby being his. I'm very upset about this, I do not know what to do. He told me he wanted a DNA test but I refuse to receive one until the baby is born because I do not want to increase my risk of a miscarriage. So no DNA til the baby is born. He told me not to call him til my OB appointment which is in 3 weeks. Anyone have any advice on what I should do? Should I call him and keep him updated with the baby even though he is denying it? Yeah I couldn't afford the birth control because I had just got laid off from my job. I am doing GREAT now, making plenty of money and I am not worried about not having enough money to support my child. Money is not the problem in this case. And there's no need to going to the maury show, I know he is the dad. I'm not a wwhore, I don't snooze around

Resolved Question: Infant swings but for older babies.. Also blind children...?
My son is 14 months old and weighs about 22lbs. Although he is the size of 1 yr old he only has the physical capabilities of about a 5 month old. He can no receive him self to a sitting position ( He can sit up but you have to put him in a sitting position) He does not walk or crawl. He has a rare bone disease. He has had a transplant and will be of normal health around age 2-3yrs old. He just has a lot of catching up to do becuse his bones are rebuilding. My question is this. He loves his swings, he has a travel and a regular one. Well it seems that he is more then outgrown the travel and the regular doesn't swing as quick now that he is heavier. Is there any swings made specifically for older kids. Not the nice that go outside but something indoors, like the baby ones. My other questions; My son has very limited vision, are their toys specifically made for visually impaired kids? Thanks

Open Question: My 1 year keeps waking in the night as his head/scalp is itchingn& he has to scratch. Anyone else had this?
I spoke to my health visitor & doctor & they both said to use olive oil on his scalp as his scalp is flaky & in parts a little bit yellow & crusty. They said it's not cradle cap, just flaky scalp. He does suffer with eczema on his skin also. I tried olive oil but noticed he was scratching much more, I tried baby oil but that brought him out in a rash, I tried dentinox cradle cap shampoo but that too made him scratch more. Can anyone help? Has anyone else experienced this with their kids? Can anyone suggest what I can use to clear it up & help relieve the itching? He hasn't had a good night's snooze in weeks now.

Open Question: I am 6 1/2 weeks pregnant . The ultrasound revealed a heartbeat of 60 bpm. Is that really bad?
I just had an ultrasound in the emergency room. The doctor told me because the heart rate is so slow that I may miscarry or he may have a lot of health problems if I am able to carry the baby to term. She said the heartbeat should be 120. Has anyone ever heard of anything like this?

My cat caught a baby field mouse and it was laying on my porch injured. Its nose is bloody and I think one of its legs are broken. I put her in a cardboard box with lots and lots of airholes (I don't want my cats to receive it again), a shirt to lay on, and put her outside (it's really hot in my home). How should I go about nursing it back to health?

Open Question: 32 weeks pregnant, rh neg. and have positive antibodies test!?
I'm 32 weeks pregnant and had my rhogam shot at 28 weeks, however my blood was tested right after and my antibodies test came back positive so now I''m in a panic. Went to high risk ob yesterday and so far baby is doing great. I know that there is a possibility baby may need a transfusion if he starts to show signs of anemia and if it is severe which they say is rare, it would have to be done in utero with some risk to the baby's health. As far along as I am, aren't the chances good he may never develop the anemia and if so wouldn't they probably just go ahead and deliver and do it then since at 32 weeks so far so good? Just really freaked out now. t

Open Question: mother of 3 need HELP!!!?
my son is 5 and is always nice to me my daughter is 10 and is a tomboy my problem is: I am having a baby and it is a girl and I don't know how my daughter Laya will set a great example of behavor to the baby. Laya never liked princesses and hated barbies (for her birthday her dad bought her a barbie and 2 hrs later found it in the trash). I wanted my 1st baby to be the best baby I had ever had. I wanted her to act like me when I was a kid. I thought she would follow my foot steps. I try geting her to have girl parties and her friends leave the next minute because they don't like my daughter. my daughter didn't tell me she went to the boys health class. I punished her for a month. I want her to learn about her period but she wont hear. everyday before she goes to bed, she cries for me and says " I want girl friends". when I walk in, she acts like a punk. I have been never really mean to my daughter but she dosn't like her dad. how do I make her tell the truth. i'm only 29! i have been only parenting since I was 19. is this a common thing girls go though. should I talk to our local counciler about this. okay so she wrote me a letter telling me what she wants this is how it goes... Dear Mommy, I adore you and I want to have my baby sister and i'm sorry that I yelled at you because I wanted a skate board and you bought me one and got 5 stiches because i'm the one that wanted to go down the big hill and you told me not to without wearing a helmet and pads. sorry i threw my food at you and you had to take another shower. why I act like this is because no one likes me at school accept for the boys and remember when Jimmy came over, thats why I threw away my doll. anyways tell me about girls and how to make friends. from xoxo, Laya should I still tell a counciler. she wrote that last week and guess what, still acting the same!!! I still adore her the way she is but the other day she threw pads down my tolet and tried flushing them but the tolet got so clogged that we had to call the plummer I adore my daughter and she could do whatever she wants. I'm not demanding her life but it would be nice if she was nicer to me. Have nice talks with her and she tells me it makes he feel safe, but the next day she does something that I don't appreciate. yesterday I talked to her and today, her and her pal Brandon crank call my work (we don't have caller id at work but i knew it was her when she called)(I have a babysitter and i'm planning on firing her because my kids were hungry and she didn't feed them)and I didn't yell at her, I talked to her and told her very calm and gave her a hig and a kiss. and she pranked me and my husband again!!! what do I do??? my son feels safe with me but my daughter does to. but, she always crank calls me or burps or farts at the table with out saying exscuse me. she throws food at the table and then me and my husband tells her to go into her room and eat dinner. I like making healthy meals and we found it every in the trash and she has a bag of potado chips below her bed and started to eat them but not her dinner. she does this everynight and I do the best i can to keep them out of the fridge so I put a lock on the frige but she knows the code and she put whiped cream every over my face when i'm sleping!!!

Open Question: was cherica adams pregnancy healthy before the shooting?
I heard when a few friends and i were discussing the cherica adams/rae carruth case that cherica adams knew beforehand that her baby would have numerous life threatning health problems if the pregnancy was brought to term, not that this would excuse rae carruth alledged involvment in her murder but it would change my view as well as countless others on the murder. Intentionally having a baby you know is doomed from the start is wrong. I heard she had problems with past pregnancies, no offense to anyone with, but i'm very into court cases and was just wondering if this piece of info verified by two of my friends was a fact.

Open Question: All the signs point to depression but how do I find help for her...?
without health insurance. My oldest sister recently moved in with me and I have been getting on her case about not waking up on time in order to make it to her classes, about not cleaning up behind herself, about spending every waking moment on the computer trying to meet guys, about calling in to work so often and about not keeping up with her physical appearance. Now I feel bad about it because a pal of mine advised me that it seems as though she is suffering from depression. She cries a lot and talks a lot about our baby sis who passed away last year. Also, she just got out of an abusive relationship & is now with me and basically relocated here with the clothes on her back. She never sleeps at night and has been running up my electric bill on the internet or watching television until 5 or 6 in the morning. Her condition is affecting my life and my marriage because we are basically taking care of her and my husband is not glad about it. I would like to know if she's depressed or what could be wrong with her. She is in and out the door every night long smoking cigarettes. Our relationship has changed for the worst because of her behavior. My husband thinks she is taking advantage of us because she runs up every the bills, eats and drinks everything in sight, refuses to go to school and or work most days and basically just sits around waiting on us to buy food, pay bills etc so that she can benefit. Now I'm wondering if she really is depressed and without insurance, can she be helped? She is 40 y/o btw, owns nothing, never been married and im 5 years younger than she is

Resolved Question: Breastfeeding & Menstruation ?
I had what i was pretty sure was my menstruation cycle (1st one after baby) about a week after stopping after birth bleeding - the 'cycle' began on May 26, 2008 and lasted my usual 6 days - I have yet to have a second menstrual cycle I have taken 4 tests every negative and still haven't had a cycle - what do you think is going on? - i know i should talk to my provider and i am going to on Tuesday after shes back from the holiday (4th of July) - but I'm just curious what you think... I am having just a really long cycle, did i really even receive my period?, or i am just getting untrue negatives? - we wouldn't mind getting pregnant, we're just wondering/anxious Also, my baby is not exclusively breastfeed, so my provider said not to rely on that as birth control, but we don't mind having them this close so we didn't really care too much (and those of you concerned about my health thank you, but she said it would be ok) Thanks for the help! Please no rude answers. I know i'm a bit confused myself... i really just want your opinion on my situation and what you think is more likely (of the over 'options' i guess) - sorry- really, what was your breastfeeding menstruation cycle like and how long if you had one while bf

Resolved Question: Are there tricks or things I can do to prevent a c-section??
I am only 20 weeks pregnant so I have a while to go, and so far my pregnancy has been GREAT so I have no reason to believe that I would even need a c-section. However, I really REALLY dont want one if I have the choice. I KNOW that sometimes it cant be avoided, and if it's in the best interest of me or my baby's health, then I know it will be required. BUT, I'm just wondering if there is anything I can do while pregnant or once I receive in early labour, in order to prevent the NEED for a c-section? So far, I have been exercising regularly, to keep myself fit (which can make labour easier) and I have also heard that avoiding the hospital as long as possible (once labour begins) can help avoid a c-section because if you go to early, the hospital may try to force the labour to progress too quickly for my body and this may result in a c-sec. Is there anything else I can do? every advice welcome, thanks! I also want to add that I want to do everything completely natural (no drugs whatsoever, or epidurals). It seems induction results in c-sections quite often too. I mean our bodies have been having babies naturally for thousands of years, WITHOUT c-sections so I am hoping there are things I can do to make things go naturally. Thanks to everyone so far, great answers!

Open Question: Don't women that choose elective inductions and/or c-sections make you ill?
okay maybe this is said out of a bit of bitterness being I'm due tomorrow with no signs. But, it does surprise and anger me that many women receive to electively pick to be induced a week or so before their due date or even just on or a day after, simply bc it's convenient for them. and also women who electively receive c-sections. now I know kaiser where I go wont do this and the c-section only if you had one b4, but I know women who do and it makes me mad. It's just not fair. my pal had a c-section she goes to kaiser and now bc she had a c-section for medical reasons (baby was breech) she can have an ELECTIVE c-section her next pregnancy, if she chooses. and she told me she could do it at 38 weeks! bc that's what she was last time. that makes me so mad 4 some reason. why if her baby isn't breech and she doesn't have any health problems next pregnancy would she want to receive one? and at 38 weeks? I guess I am just fed up with every these women who just receive to "pick" their labor. any1 els and just for clarification purposes bc the some ppl seemed to not quite understand fully: I am referring to women who have no medical reasons to be induced a week early or on the due date, and women who don't need a c-section, but ELECTIVELY pick to do so, THAT makes me sick. my pal was just a side note, I understand she is higher risk bc of her c-section and breech baby. and whoever said I was jealous perhaps I am but I'm jealous bc I'm actually doing what's fair to my baby and I dont have the choice to "pick" when I'll go into labor unless I go way overdue. concerned that is exactly what happened to my mom with both me and my brother, how silly. but no, I don't mean your type of situation, I mean exclusively women who purposely electively receive induced for reasons of convenience "I want my baby by this date so I can go do this by this date" etc. and there is no medical reason absolutely none. I guess I shouldn't have mentioned my pal bc most ppl misunderstood what I was saying. Mrs Dahl: I can judge whatever I want to, and that you can't steer whose fault is that? plenty of women don't steer and still have to wait. yours was not a valid reason 2b induced. good 4 u your son was healthy but you are just another example of what I mean. and yes I am bitter bc I wont receive induced til I go overdue. and yes I am saying this out of anger and spite but oh well if you dont like it dont read it! and Jill YES IT SHOULD BOTHER ME BC I HAVE TO SIT HERE BE PREGNANT POSSIBLY OVERDUE AND UNCOMFORTABLE AND WAIT TIL AT LEAST THE 13TH TO BE INDUCED BY THEN I'LL BE ALMOST 2 WEEKS OVERDUE WHICH PUTS MY BABY AT RISK AND ME! AND MY DUE DATE IS ACCURATE AS I FOUND OTU AT 4 WEEKS SO YES IT DOES BOTHER ME BC IT'S NOT FAIR I DON'T receive THAT SPECIAL TREATMENT! AND WHAT BOTHERS ME IS MY BUSINESS! yes mommy of two that is why I am so "jealous" (sara c) oh boo hoo bad answer queen I'm between 5'1 and 5'2 what's your case? does that give me a ticket to a c-section?

Resolved Question: Want to read a little story?
2010 Was Not A Good Year To Be President Welcome to Toastmasters, June 13, 2033. That's right: 2033. Today Rick Campbell, one of our senior members at age 87, is here to reminisce a bit and give us a history lesson. He says he is so old that he learned to steer an internal combustion engine car (remember those) with a manual transmission. He once owned a typewriter. He remembers when bicycles had one speed, phones had two-party lines, and cameras had something called film. As incredible as this may seem, he says that when he was young, it was common for people to smoke in restaurants and public places. He is from a different time; almost a different world. I'm sure every of us are far too familiar with the tragic events of 2010, so Rick is not going to plow that fertile field again. Instead, he is going to give us a personal look back at the conditions which led up to that fateful year, in a speech titled "2010 Was Not A Good Year To Be President." "2010 Was Not A Good Year To Be President" Yes, 2010 was long ago and far away. As we look back on history, it appears that some Presidents had an easy ride- times of growth and stability. Teddy Roosevelt, Warren G. Harding, Dwight Eisenhower, Bill Clinton arrive to mind. Those were good years to be President. Others were elected just when the Republic was facing terrible crises: Abraham Lincoln, Woodrow Wilson, Franklin Roosevelt, George W. Bush. They rose to the occasion, even though they were controversial and widely hated while in office. Not such good years to be President. Just a few years prior, in 2008, the country began foundering. We were in the sixth year of the Iraqi Occupation, and the economy was flat. The mainstream press clearly wanted a Democrat elected. Although we didn't know it until some years later, oil producing nations had colluded to secretly buy their possess oil on the open market, driving oil prices to shocking levels over the true demand price- reaching a high of $162 a barrel in October, 2008, just before the general elections. Their purpose was simple: to effect regime change in the United States. And of course, the U.S. economy was already in a real estate slump and also suffering the curse of stagflation; slow growth and high inflation. There were a million home foreclosures. Independent truckers went below by the thousands. Airlines failed. Airlines with names now long-forgotten: United, Delta, Northwestern, American. every now merged, of course, into the one lone U.S. carrier we adore so much: Southwest. Against this backdrop of weariness of the war on terror, and economic distress, the American people were ripe for a demagogue, and they certainly got one in Barack Hussein Obama. He and his running mate Kathlene Sibelius inspired them with vague notions of wish and change; of a world in which diplomacy settled every international problems, of free universal health care, of abundant alternative energy, of peace and adore. It was a vision too good to resist. The Republican nominee, a name you probably haven't heard in years anyone? Yes, it was John McCain, an obscure Senator from Arizona had no clue how to run a national campaign, and a platform nearly as liberal as Obama's. The selection of Condoleeza Rice as his running mate looked brilliant at first. Unfortunately, black voters viewed her as white, and women voters viewed her as one of the guys. Even so, the McCain/Rice ticket would have won the election if it weren't for the fact that 16 percent of conservative Republicans voted for anyone remember? That's right, Bob Barr, another name that's a footnote in history. After Obama's narrow win, thanks to recounts in Broward County, Florida, the country was positively giddy. A Democrat home, Senate, and President. At last an end to gridlock in Washington. Camelot! When Congress convened in January, 2009, the 44th President of the United States did something unique in history: he made good on his campaign promises. Certainly most Americans never really thought he was serious during the campaign. But whether because of inexperience, idealism, or simply incompetence, he followed through. In Obama's first One Hundred Days, the Congress passed his initiatives, and he signed them into law as he said he would. He repealed the Bush tax cuts, and increased capital gains taxes. He enacted a windfall profits tax, and instituted price controls on gasoline and diesel fuel. He passed universal health care, which added an additional 10 percent tax increase on every working Americans. He signed the Immigrant Amnesty bill which created 12 million new citizens instantly, each with entitlements. He closed the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay, and summarily released every the detainees. He repealed the Patriot Act, and clip funding for espionage, and eliminated every terrorist listening and wiretaps. Most important, he began the complete and immediate withdrawal of every American troops from Iraq. He ignored the advice of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, who wanted to retain bases in Kuwait and Qatar. Instead, he went with the recommendation of Secretary of Defense Dennis Kucinich, and ordered every troops back to U.S. soil. Viola! In One Hundred Days, by May of 2009, it was every done, and the vision was complete. He did exactly what he said he would do. And so it was in the summer of 2009 that things began to unravel for Obama. Of course, the economy needed a tax clip, not an increase, and unemployment quickly rose to 12 percent. Even attorneys and economists were put in the bread lines. difficult times! Price con! trols on gasoline immediately led to shortages and gas lines. The global cooling trend we have seen for the past 25 years first became obvious in 2009, exposing the CO2 global warming fraud. People were justifiably mad. Federal deficits increased massively because thousands of baby boomers, facing job loss and much higher taxes, simply gave up and took social security. Although the superb U.S. health care system was thrown into disarray, the bright spot was the creation of the Federal Department of Health care, and the immediate hiring of 250,000 administrators, inspectors and auditors, the only job growth in any economic sector in 2009. By February 2010, the U.S. military withdrawal from Iraq was complete. It was a very expensive undertaking. And then in March, the gradual Shiite insurgencies from Iran turned into a true Iraqi civil war. In May, Iranian tanks crossed the border and quickly took Baghdad. Although the exact number is not know, at least 230,000 Sunni Iraqis died as we stood by. Iran also quickly moved into undefended Kuwait. President Obama did exactly what he said he would. He sent Secretary of State, Maria Cantwell, to Tehran to meet with Iranian President Ahmadinejad. After two weeks of high level talks, the United States agreed to allow Iran to retain Iraq and Kuwait to create stability in the middle east, with the understanding that Israel would not be disturbed. Cantwell returned to Washington, and explained the agreement in her famous speech, in which she proudly noted that the Obama administration had finally achieved "peace in our time" in the Middle East. So there was some surprise at the rocket attacks on Tel Aviv on August 14th. President Obama said, "This is not the Mahmoud Ahmadinejad I knew." The Obama administration decided it would be de-stabilizing to take sides in the conflict, and approximately 29,000 Israeli civilians died during the summer and fall. American Jews were appalled at the inaction. Yes, in 2010 most American Jews were Democrats, but because of 2010, they are solid Republicans today. As awkward as it was, everything might have turned out every right for the Obama administration going into the fall mid-term elections of 2010, if it hadn't been for the dirty bomb in the Port of Long Beach. The administration had clip funding for the inspection of containers, because they felt it showed a "lack of trust" in the international trading community. It wasn't really a very big bomb, and thank goodness, not a real nuclear device, but nonetheless it contaminated some expensive real estate-Newport Beach, Palos Verdes Estates- and ultimately caused the death of 14,000 Americans. People were especially annoyed that Disneyland had to be closed for decontamination. And so, in the midterm elections, Republicans regained control of both the home and Senate, and the relax is history. The impeachment proceedings against President Obama for "failure to protect and defend" were swift and nearly unanimous. Vice President&nbs! p;Sibeli us resigned. Newly-elected Speaker of the home, J.C. Watts, became the 45th President of the United States. But you know the relax of the story well. Republicans finished the war on Islamic fundamentalists, largely by aiming ICBM's at Mecca and Medina. No Democrat has been elected President since. Republicans have held both Houses of Congress. History of Western Civilization and Economics are now taught in every public schools, and in English only. Marriage is defined as one man and one lady. And there are border fences, north and south. We old codgers remember the ancient Confucian curse: "May you live in interesting times." Well, 2010 was an interesting year, but it was not a good year to be president." (Far fetched? We are likely to find out if we continue to be unaware of the issues and vote with our emotions rather than be studious in our approach to electing our "public officials".) Elvira(aka nasty bi-ch)..and anyone else..I did not write a word of this, just put it out as it was foward to me..

Resolved Question: TTC'ers who are having trouble...?
So I turned 30 yesterday which was a difficult birthday for several reasons (who wants to leave their 20s, I mean really) not the least of which was entering our 10th month of TTC. From the very beginning, I had a gut feeling that conception wasn't going to be easy for me...I don't know why I had this feeling, I have no risk factors, my mom easily conceived and delivered three healthy kids, I'm fit and an appropriate weight for my age and height, my husband is in excellent health, we don't engage in unhealthy behaviors, etc. So it's been frustrating and I was venting to my husband the other day. What he said to me was, "Don't be so difficult on yourself. God is going to give us our baby, but not just any old baby. He's working difficult to create our son or daughter and will bless us when our child is ready to be given to us." That made me feel so much better and I wanted to share this with other TTC'ers who are struggling. You're not waiting for any old baby, yours is going to be perfect and perfection takes time. So don’t lose heart. And because this is Yahoo Answers and I have to post a legitimate question, here it is: Does anyone else have any uplifting thoughts about pregnancy and conception for those of us who are trying so difficult and not having an easy time of it?

Resolved Question: What pain is worse? Ectopic pregnancy or child birth?
With my first pregnancy (about 2 years ago) I had an ectopic pregnancy and my left tube burst. It was the most excruciating pain I felt in my entire life. It felt as if I was being stabbed with 20 knives every over my body repeatedly. When I first found out I was pregnant again I was extremely nervous about the health of this baby and was monitored closely by my doctor. Fortunately I am now out of the "high risk zone" for ectopic pregnancies and miscarriages. I thought this would rid me of every my worries and anxieties but instead now that the baby is thriving and appears healthy my anxieities have been shifted to the thought of re-experiecing that magnitude of pain again. I would prefer to deliver my baby without pain medications, but I know if the pain is any more intense than the pain when my tube burst I can not handle it. For those who would know what was more painful for you the ectopic pregnancy or childbirth?

Open Question: My 1 year old keeps waking in the night as his scalp is itching & he needs to scratch. What can I use to help?

Open Question: Will a freon leak hurt my baby?
My family returned from movie and noticed a yellow wet spot on the ceiling directly below the A/C unit. The realistate company had sent someone to do routine matinence on it earlier today. I noticed the yellow spot was making the plaster arrive off of the ceiling, and decided to go into the attic to take a look at the unit itself. The leak is comming from a line that I believe contains freon. Two lines leave the A/C unit in the attic and go outside to the condencer unit. Of these two lines, the larger one that is wrapped in insulation is leaking at numerous points. The realistate company said they will not send anyone untill tommorow, but I am worried about my baby. She is 14 days old. Can this leak have bad health affects on her?

Open Question: Obama was the only senator to vote against the born alive infant protection act?
How could any religious group support this? Obama is for UNRESTRICTED partial birth abortion and he was the only senator to vote against the born alive baby protection act that declared these infants were human beings entitled to 'comfort care'. This has nothing to do with the health of the mom and it especially hurts blacks. I know he's trying to wipe out poverty, but this is cruel! There are many white couples that are forced to adopt overseas. Is Obama against whites adopting black kids? IMO. Partial birth abortion should only be used for extreme conditions where the life of the mom is at stake and the baby should be euthanized, before it suffers. (euthanasia is another topic)Partial birth abortion involves pulling the baby's head out and stabbing it in the head or neck with scissors. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB121261107480446197.html http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=51121 http://www.citizenlink.org/CLtopstories/A000007034.cfm OMG! fdm take one second to look how Obama has voted. It's one of the ways he wants to eliminate poverty for minorities! He's the one that voted for this - every for eliminating poverty. I didn't put the horrible pictures of these baby's deaths in my links, but you can find them if you have the stomach to look it. And every the time, white americans seek adoption overseas. Why? Because blacks don't want whites to adopt these kids. Check with the DFCS. Priority is to put black chilren with black parents, but there are very few black parents that want (or need) to adopt kids. BlueChristy12, you ask specific questions that I'm very glad to answer. I'm the mom of two adopted kids of a crack addict. They are in the gifted program at their school (thanks to good genes). I've been through the foster parent program and everybody is taught that putting a black child with white parents is a last resort. Of course I'm against war, but I'm not against people wanting to serve their country. Thankfully, my kids are young and, because of their being in the gifted program, will probaby pick to go to college. There is no draft and there isn't likely to be one. I'll think America has progressed when adoptiion is the first choice, not abortion!

Open Question: Hi, here is my essay...can you tell me what you think about the closing sentence?
I was born a pre-mature baby, at 28 weeks, weighing in at about 2 pounds. At the age of 10 years I was diagnosed with Childhood Nephrotic Syndrome, and recently I was admitted into Moses Cone Behavioral Health due to Brief Psychotic Disorder. every throughout my life I have had health issues and have caused my parents great concern and worry. I want to do something for my parents so that they are less burdened. They have had to carry a heavy load raising me, and I want do something to return the favor, to show them how much I appreciate every that they have done to ensure that I have the best care possible. This is why I am applying to the Foundation for an educational grant. My academic goal for college is not only to receive good grades, but to learn and gain experiences that will prepare me for the future. It is something I will have to work and study difficult to achieve, but I will succeed with enough determination and persistence. By becoming involved on campus, I wish to make a difference both inside and outside the classroom. I wish to pursue a career as a pharmacist in the future. I plan to attend the University of North Carolina at Greensboro for two years and then transfer over to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for another four years. I want to help many people, both as a pharmacist and as a person. It is a dream of mine to help those in poverty and those less fortunate than me. Although I am still young, I feel as if I know my purpose in life: to assist others and be an exemplary citizen. This scholarship would further motivate me toward my goals and purpose in life. Helen Keller once described exactly what I wish to achieve. She said, “Many people have a wrong idea of what constitutes true happiness. It is not attained through self-gratification, but through fidelity to a worthy purpose.” I like to look life as a sail boat; even though adversities and rough storms may arise, it knows that it will overcome them and sail towards a glad and peaceful place. Thanks for your help. If you think that the closing sentence doesn't go then maybe you could help suggest something... The prompt was individual academic goals, as well as reasons for applying to the foundation for an educational grant.

Open Question: Okay, I'm PREGNANT and CRAZY...?
And I'm gonna worry over every little thing, My pal is on a high dose of Spirinolactone currently and plans on starting Accutane in August, is it okay to hug her goodbye, obviously I won't be drinking or eating after her just due to the fact that I'm pregnant and would hate to receive sick, I'm just worried, and call me crazy, but say she comes over at the end of the summer and sits on my sofa sweating profusely, and the accutane or any medicine seeps out of her pores, and I sit in the spot later, is there any chance in hell that the slightest bit of accutane could receive in my system, or through skin contact, I am being EXTREMELY CAREFUL WITH MY BABY'S HEALTH and maybe I'm going too far, but this is me, and as much as I adore my pal, if there was a .00002% chance that some form of her medication could seep through my skin, I would want to know. I'm not normally this NUTS but if you saw her Accutane brochure, and the fact that she has to be registered with the government and take monthly pregnancy tests to make sure she doesn't conceive, well that just shows how strong and fatal this stuff can be to babies.... Okay, people keep telling me about anxiety, this is my first child, and I want to be sure I can do everything in MY POWER to do my part in my baby's health, I realize there are things I can't control, and I'm okay with that, but it's not like I sit around and worry every day, it was just something I became very curious about after seeing every her paperwork, I don't feel I need to discuss my anxiety with my doctor, I feel that it is pretty normal considering, and it's not like he could really help, because I would definitely never consider taking an anti-anxiety pill at this point, every I'm asking for is something to soothe my worry wart mind. Anyone who knows me, knows that I am this way, and would expect me to be even more so when it's not just my body anymore, I really don't think I'm crazy, if anything just laughable....Most of the time I'm walking around, singing to my belly, I have no plans to spend my whole pregnancy having an anxiety attack, it is still very new, and I am learning..

I'm thinking of nursing, childcare teacher (but not so much interested in the teaching more in helping kids/women). What else can you do? Is there such a thing as a playtherapist in hostipals etc?
